The President of the Iraqi Securities Commission, Mr.
Faisal Al-Haims, met the Chargé d'Affairs at the Embassy of Japan in Iraq, Mr.
Masamoto Kenichi, and Mr. Miyakawa Mitsukuni, First Secretary of the General
Department, at the Commission's headquarters on Wednesday, to discuss and
explore prospects for cooperation between Iraq and Japan in the field of
securities. This visit comes with the aim of enhancing bilateral cooperation
and expanding understanding between the two countries with regard to securities
markets. During the meeting, the two parties discussed the opportunities
available to Japanese companies and investors, and exchanged experiences and
knowledge in the securities sector. His Excellency the Chairman of the
Commission also provided an overview on Iraq Stock Exchange and the potential
investment opportunities it can offer. Mr. Al-Haims expressed the readiness of
the Iraqi Securities Commission to support and facilitate the work of Japanese
companies and investors in Iraq and to provide assistance in all legal and
regulatory aspects. He stressed the importance of consolidating economic and
trade ties between Iraq and Japan. For his part, the Japanese Chargé
d'Affaires, Mr. Masamoto Kenichi, praised the economic and regulatory
developments in Iraq, and expressed his country's desire to expand cooperation
and strengthen partnerships between Japanese companies and Iraqi companies in
the field of securities. This visit reflects Iraq's commitment to strengthening
international cooperation, opening the doors of investment to foreign investors
in various economic sectors, and encouraging foreign investments in the Iraqi
stock market.
