Since the Commission is keen to apply the highest standards and best practices and local and international laws that would strengthen the regulatory and supervisory authorities of the Commission on the capital markets and support its effectiveness in detecting violations, the Commission sought to obtain a membership in the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) as an associate member, starting from January 2019 , what is worth mentioning is that the process of joining the International Organization of Securities Commissions requires many years, but our Commission was able to complete the membership requirements within a few months.
The Commission is working on fulfilling the requirements for signing the (IOSCO) Memorandum of Understanding to transform from a associate member into an ordinary member in the organization above.
The Commission is also a member of the sub-committees of (IOSCO), namely the Regional Committee for North Africa and the Middle East, and Growth and Emerging Markets Committee.
The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) was established in 1983, and it sets international standards for mechanisms of oversight and supervision of financial markets, and works to implement the principles of fairness, effectiveness and transparency in the international financial community, which all its member must be guided by and meet the requirements of IOSCO.
