Iraqi Securities Commission confirms that the regulatory measures it takes with regard to companies listed on Iraq Stock Exchange fall within the framework of its legal responsibility to protect investors, enhance transparency, and maintain the integrity and stability of the financial market.
In this context, the Commission’s decision to suspend trading in the shares of Al-Taif Islamic Bank was part of the regulatory measures taken at the time, with the aim of protecting the rights of investors and shareholders and allowing for the fulfillment of the relevant requirements and procedures in accordance with the applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
The Commission emphasizes that decisions to suspend trading are not intended to target the company itself. Rather, they constitute one of the regulatory tools that may be used when there are reasons or requirements necessitating the protection of market participants and the mitigation of risks that could affect their investment decisions.
The Commission is also following developments related to the bank and the measures taken by the competent authorities, each within its respective legal jurisdiction and powers, reaffirming its continued commitment to carrying out its regulatory role in a manner that ensures investor protection and strengthens confidence in the financial market.
The Securities Commission reiterates its call on investors to rely on official information and disclosures issued by the competent authorities and to refrain from being influenced by unverified news or information that may affect their investment decisions.
