The Securities Commission participated in in the joint Iraqi-Qatari
committee meeting, which was chaired by the Vice Chairman of the National Investment
Commission, Engineer Salar Muhammad. The Commission was attended by the Vice
Chairman of the Commission, Ms. Nagham Hussein Ismail, and a number of
representatives of ministries and the private sector.
During the meeting, Vice Chairman of the National Investment Commission,
Engineer Salar Muhammad Amin, discussed the proposals and requirements related
to the local entities and institutions participating in the committee to sign
the joint and comprehensive memorandum of understanding with the Qatari side.
The aim of the meeting is to discuss the proposals and requirements that
will be included in a single working paper to be presented to the Qatari side
to prepare the paragraphs of the memorandum of understanding.
He stated that investment projects in Iraq are witnessing a state of
competition for their implementation by investment companies and in all
sectors, noting the Prime Minister, Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani’s patronage of
the investment sector and the trend towards developing Iraqi investment bases
through openness to countries in the region and the world.
The meeting witnessed the presentation of a number of visions and
proposals by the participants to enhance economic and financial cooperation
between the two countries, raising the level of joint investments, exchange
experiences and educational programs, and increase the number of grants and
missions, as well as enhancing cooperation in the field of health, environment,
solar energy, oil and gas, as well as contributing to the field of
infrastructure and building and developing projects. Roads, residential and
