The Minister of Planning discusses with the Chairman of the Securities Commission the reality of the stock market and its role in dealing with the financial crisis
The Minister of Planning met Prof. Dr. Khaled Battal Al-Najm, Chairman of the Securities Commission, Dr. Alaa Abdel-Hussein Al-Saedi. During the meeting, they discussed the reality of the Commission’s Work and its role in supporting the national economy in light of the current crisis and working to amend the law in a manner consistent with the importance of the stock market, stock trading and support for specialized companies.
The meeting witnessed a discussion of a number of issues related to economic reality and uniting efforts towards finding solutions and remedies for the crisis, as happened during the meeting
- Emphasis on following up the file of government contributions in mixed public joint-stock companies and the possibility of benefiting from these contributions to meet part of the expenses.
- Calling for a reassessment of the assets of public state-owned companies with a view to identifying the potential of these companies and setting up appropriate mechanisms to convert them into profitable companies.
- Working to develop the means and methods used in stock trading, in a way that contributes to broadening its horizons and its contribution to supporting development in Iraq.
