ISC Commission participates in a workshop on evaluating the effectiveness of anti-money laundering and terrorist financing systems.
Under the patronage of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in the Republic of Iraq, ISC Commission, Iraq Stock Exchange and a number of brokerage firms participated in a specialized workshop on evaluating the effectiveness of systems to combat money laundering, financing terrorism and proliferation.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the Central Bank of Iraq, the banking sector, exchange companies, electronic payment companies, the Insurance Bureau and insurance companies, during which the simulation of the mutual evaluation process and the role of the concerned authorities in applying international requirements in the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Law No. (39 of 2015) were discussed, in addition to Risk analysis and application of preventive measures.
This workshop aims to strengthen efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing crimes in the Iraqi financial sector, and to develop the necessary mechanisms to address these security and financial challenges. This comes within the framework of Iraq's commitment to implement international measures to combat money laundering and terrorist financing crimes and to ensure transparency and integrity in financial and economic activities.
It is noteworthy that the Securities Commission is working seriously to improve and develop the financial control framework, and to enhance cooperation with international agencies and relevant organizations to combat financial crimes and ensure the stability of financial markets in the country.
