The Securities Commission held an Investor Day conference under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and in the presence of the Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Farhad Nematullah, Minister of Youth and Sports Adnan Darjal, Deputy President of the Securities Commission, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Iraq Stock Exchange, the Executive Director of the Iraq Stock Exchange, the Executive Director and his deputy For the Erbil Stock Exchange, the President of the Investors Association and the Brokers Association, in addition to a number of investors, high-level economic figures, brokerage companies and joint stock companies listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange.

One of the objectives of the conference was to familiarize investors with the new administrative changes taken by His Excellency the President of the Securities Commission, Faisal Al-Haimus, where the Institutional Governance Department and the Investor Rights Department were created, and the new vision and strategy of the Commission were introduced.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Farhad Nehmeh Alla Hussein, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, in his speech in which he emphasized the government's endeavor to enhance the attractive environment for capital by issuing a package of decisions and instructions that contributed to facilitating the work of investment projects, and stressed the importance of activating the investment sector, improving its environment and overcoming problems Investors to expand the perimeter of foreign investment and pointed to the continued cooperation of the General Secretariat with the Securities Commission and the various concerned parties in this regard, as the government believes in supporting the private and investment sector, because of its impact on improving the economic reality.

For his part, His Excellency the President of the Securities Commission, Faisal Al-Haimus stressed the role of the Commission in protecting the rights of investors and working to attract local and international investments in order to expand investment activity. Inside the Iraqi capital markets. Indicating the Authority’s approach to upgrading the capital markets, working in a team spirit, and that the investment should be according to rules based on the companies ’financial statements. He stressed the Authority’s endeavors to flourish investment in the financial markets by introducing new financial services and diversifying tools, as well as activating the custodian service, establishing new joint stock companies such as the Erbil Stock Exchange and activating its work after being delayed for many years.

In order to establish the principle of participation for all securities manufacturers to cooperate and unify efforts, and because the commission is considered the supervisory body and is responsible for issuing instructions and regulations, the door to dialogue chaired by Mr. Faisal Al-Haimus was opened in the presence of financial market managers, investors, listed companies and brokerage companies, where a number of investor ideas and obstacles that were discussed were opened. Face them and listen to their views and exchange discussions with the Iraq Stock Exchange and identify mechanisms to improve the reality of the financial markets.

At the end of the conference, in encouragement and support from the Commission, the first five listed joint stock companies that made their disclosure early for 2019 were honored.

The Securities Commission was established under Law (74) of 2004 as an independent governmental body. To enable the Iraqi capital and commodity markets and attract internal and external investments to advance reality The Iraqi economy, as well as ensuring the rights of investors using the best international standards To trade in the markets with transparency and fairness comparable to the regional and global financial markets.

The Authority undertakes a set of tasks, including protecting the rights of investors by issuing and updating instructions and publishing financial data for trading, disclosure and control over the entities licensed by the Authority. The authority is also interested in informing the public of investing in securities to stimulate companies to list And perhaps one of its most prominent tasks is the licensing of new markets, in addition to the Authority’s endeavor to participate By drawing fiscal and monetary policy and combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

Its identity and values ​​are integrity, justice and equal opportunity, transparency, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility. It aims to provide the appropriate climate to ensure efficiency in the strength of supply and demand. The Authority has strengthened its presence on the international scene and strengthened ties with international organizations by joining it as a permanent member of the Union of Arab Securities Commissions and an associate member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (Iosco).
