The Chairman of Iraq Securities Commission meets the Omani Minister of National Economy


last week, The Chairman of the Iraq Securities Commission, Mr.Hasan Al Ukaily, met the Minister of National Economy in the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Dr. Saeed Al-Saqri, on the sidelines of the invitation extended to him by the Muscat Stock Exchange during his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman with the delegation accompanying him. The two parties discussed the importance of mutual cooperation; and exchanging experiences, and Al Ukaily stressed the need to develop the relations between Iraqi and Omani financial institutions. The Chairman of the Iraq Securities Commission attended a series of meetings with high ranked officials responsible for the securities sector in the Sultanate. The issues of mutual investment in the sector were discussed, whether from Omani investors in the Iraqi market or vice versa. The Iraqi legal environment that helps Omani investors enter the Iraqi market was reviewed. A series of meetings were held with His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Economic Committee in the Omani Shura Council, in the presence of their Excellencies members of the Committee, along with a meeting with His Excellency Dr. Saleh Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and a meeting with Mr. Mohammed bin Saeed Al Abri, Vice Chairman of the Securities Authority and the advanced cadre in The Commission and Mr. Haitham bin Salem Al Salmi, CEO of the Amman Stock Exchange, and Mr. Muhammad bin Hadi, General Manager of the Muscat Clearing and Depository Company, as well as a number of brokerage companies. The meetings were attended by Mr. Thaer Adnan Hashem, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Iraq Stock Exchange, Dr. Abdul Razzaq Qassem, President of the Damascus Stock Exchange, and Mr. Rami Al-Dukani, Secretary General of the Arab Capital Markets. On the sidelines of the meetings, training of some employees of the Commission and the ISX at the Muscat Stock Exchange and the Muscat Depository and Clearing Company, Finally, it was agreed to prepare memoranda of understanding between the counterpart institutions that include mutual cooperation; and exchange of experiences.
